So the tahoe and camaro have basically the same motor, so I am wOndering how I can make my 2001 tahoe sound like a camaro. My thoughts are the only way would be to do duals to the back, remove the spare tire, and mount a camaro style flowmaster. Am I on the right track? Because I have tried flowmasters and currently have a magnaflow, and I just can't get that camaro sound. I'm thinking it has to do with the cross flow muffler design. Or am I wrong?

Go with a Borla or Corsa and you'll get the sound you want. It also depends what Flowmasters and what Magnaflows you tried.

Camaro have an LS1? If so, pretty different than a 4.8/5.3

Very well said! I was trying to come up with the same thing but couldn't get it worded the way I wanted so just didn't post it :) Just cuz the two motors may have the same displacement does not mean they are the same motor....

That's true, but at the same time a lt1 camaro and ls1 camaro, sound very similar. I have had both, both had super 40's too. They sounded almost identical. And those a very different motors. So that's why I think it has something to do with the style muffler they use.

just because its an LS family of motors doenst mean its gonna sound the same. compression, head design, valve timing, all that affects the way it sounds. an LT1 and LS1 camaro might sound similar but at the same time they sound drastically different than an LT1 or LS1 corvette- regardless of whose muffler you put on there. its going to have to do with the exhaust manifold or header design, cat design and flow, exhaust size and tubing, etc. its not as simple as "make my truck sound like a camaro". using that logic is kind alike saying a 4 cylinder with a glass pack should sound like a V8 with true duals and glasspacks - just half as loud. aint gonna happen. same reason you dont hear a Ford F150 sounding like a ford mustang GT. Way too many variables.

Longtubes + short ass flowmaster 40 series sounds mean as hell. I love mine but it is a bit obnoxious at times, no drone but I wish it were a bit quieter sometimes. 3" with one high flow cat and a tiny muffler will get you some noise though.
