I am definetly sold myself. I like the desired reading/actual reading extras

If this doesn't point out a specific malfuction the data coupled with visual inspections should yield the required repairs.

I would like to add that from what you mentioned about the condition of your plugs and that compression problem that I look forward the the pressure reading when you get them and if you can tie the condition of each plug to it numbers and diag data or at least the first two.

It doesn't take much oil contamination to cause misfires.

When I did mine I had a smooth running engine for a very little bit but got worse again.

That and the power drop offs I had the other day in fixed gear while moving it has got to electronic and mechenical.
The oil control problem alone is enough to justify a head tear down. 800 miles on those plugs I pulled was enough for me but like a said I still have an electronic problem on how the computer is dealing with it.

Can't wait to start mine next month I hope.

It is up to you but if I do mine next month(will keep you posted) maybe you might want to hold off purchase a little bit to see what happens with mine as for as diags results go unless you can't wait.

Short of doing my pitman arm that is the next priority.

If I had a garage to work in I would start tearing it down now and photo document everything with before and after diag logs.

I can't trust local shops anymore with diags.

Everyone is always giving me different stories.

I wish I had a shop of my own to deal with this vehicles I hate to see drivers waste money on parts they don't need.

I can see the customer spending the same on a given repair but it is done once with positive results ands no comebacks and the mechanics better themselves in the process.

Well, talked to the mechanic this morning, compression was "0" on six and almost "150" on all other cylinders.
He suspects a burnt exhaust valve on six.

After comparing the costs of repairing mine, buying a rebuilt engine w/ 3yr warranty or replacing w/ a rebuilt engine and no warranty....I'm looking for an engine, don't want to spend much more than a grand, leaning towards a 383, anyone seen one? I'll be searching the classifieds now :fishing1:

That bites. Autozone loans some tools around here so in addition to the diag hard/software and fluke 568 I mentioned in your other post that I am getting I will get a few other things. I am borrowing a compression tester and fuel pressure guage and probably one other. Wish they had a vacuum pump to purge my a/c system(need to replace a valve core). Also got a christmas present for the truck. A family member gave me a head unit and nav module becuase they decided to get the the combined unit instead since they have a double din on there ford explorer. It is one I recomended to them initially to keep costs low but the aunt said it would leave to much plain space around and a typical face bezel would look to crappy. So they went with the super unit with a full front face display and I get the the flip out one since I am trying to build up and fix my truck.

So this kills my idea of a permanent computer in the car for now but I won't need to worry about remembering driving directions anymore(Big problem for me when going to rarely traveled places). I can even add an intergrated back-up camera sat-rad tuner, hd tuner and ipod controls controlled from the touchscreen. Now all I need is to get some good polk speakers and sub. Never had a in-car dvd-nav system before. But will wait til the truck is working before installing.

Check it out:

Here is the link again.

http://www.palmerperformance.com/downloads.php

Go for the pro version. When you get it PM your email so I can send my last log file to you to see how it works. I am doing my spider and starter this weekend now that the steam bath is done so I will do another run afterwards. If the software gives me the green light I will get it smogged finally and rebuild my front and rear brakes. I have Raybestos severe duty drums-shoes and Powerslot rotors with Hawk pads itching to go on. I had the pitman arm, battery and one used tire done today.
