what kind of wood did u use bcuz my bro said it would slam better if it was thicker wood

That is 1 1/2" thick mdf. For yours it wouldnt have to be nearly that think you could just use 3/4" mdf and be fine, but your friend is correct the thicker the wood the better. Air pockets in wood decrease your quality.
