The following link shows you how to hook up an aftermarket hu by bypassin the bose amp and with a simple wire harness
http://www.gmtruckclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27781

Now my question is instead of cutting the speakers lead from the bose harness and running the wires up to the aftermarket hu harness, why couldnt I leave the bose harness alone and just connect the speaker wires from the aftermarket hu to the metra harness that will connect to the oem radio harness?

I think if you buy the harness for bose and onstar then you wont need to bypass anything.
