Let's sloooow down. First off what are we working on here, I saw it's a 99 with 400k so I'm assuming a 99 Tahoe since your name is Tahoeman. I understand it's got electric controlled 4wd with buttons on the dash but how many buttons does it have? What symptoms does the truck exhibit? What fluid are you saying smells burnt or is burnt? Are there any leaks?

Yes a 1999 chevrolet tahoe 4wd with electric buttons 4HI, 4LO , Auto4WD, 2HI and the transmission fluid is burnt I checked it it's black and no leaks

My girl drove it when I was away last and it got hot and made a bunch of noise when it cooled she was able to drive it again but when it got hot again it did the same thing made a loud banging noise she described
