HELP What is Best Window Tint % and kind of Tint to use??

I have been wanting to get my windows on my Tahoe tinted for a long time. Never spent much time looking into it, but feel it is now time. Currently my 05 Tahoe only has the 2nd row windows and rear cargo area tinted with factory tint. I am 100% going to get these windows done darker, but am also considering having the front driver and passenger windows done as well.

Wanted to know what % you guys would recommend over the factory tint and what % would be recommended for the front windows that currently have no tint at all.

Are there different kinds of tint that I should consider? For example, I see tint shops mention ceramic tint. Is there a company that makes better tint that others?

I live in California, anyone know of any shops they would recommend in the Bay Area?

5% over factory on the rears, 20% on the fronts. Check your local laws for what is legal on the fronts (if you want to stay legal, some states aren't dicks about it)

I usually tell the shop to go as dark as they legally can. Most reputable shops know the laws in their area. I usually pop for the higher end stuff, but where I live the sun can really dish out a beating on things. The cheap stuff starts turning weird colors or fading pretty quick around here.

Legal here in Louisiana is only 40% on the front windows.
Which to me isn't enough. I have 20 on my front doors on my 04 but the thing I've been the most happy with is putting 50 on the whole windshield.
Illegal yes. But well worth it.

I did 30 on the fronts, isn't dark enough. Next will be 15 or 20 up front. But it is legal at 30.

I did 18 over the whole rear of the truck and I am happy with that. You can't see in, but you can see out just fine day or night.

We have to do state inspections, and they gave me hell on my last truck with 5% up front.

thanks for the replies fellas. Tahoe got broken into at the gym last week so I have since been working on getting that issue taken care of. Got the entire truck including ignition rekeyed, ordered up some jimmijamm theft protection for the doors and hood... new alarm coming next week.

Will be doing the 5% on the rear windows as soon as the smoke clears from this experience and my wallet recovers a bit lol. Still debating on the 20% front windows. Cops in the California are hit or miss. Some will pull up and tell you that you have a nice truck, others will try and F**k you as hard as they can.
