My fuel pump originally had went out. I changed my fuel filter and pump at the same time. I had less than 2 gallons of fuel to put in it here at the house, but I put it in and fired it up to make sure all was well before putting it all back together. After I got it all buttoned up I let it run maybe 20 minutes and shut if off. I put 5 gallons of fuel in it and was going to take it on a test drive. I fired it up with no problem, it ran 10 seconds tops and shut off. Now I can't hear the fuel pump anymore. The gas gauge works. I swapped relays and still nothing. Checked all the under hood fuses and they were all good. Is there anything else to check before dropping the tank again, my luck I got a bad pump out of the box?

Sorry about the long post.

Did you use an aftermarket pump? Check wiring harness to tank. Sometimes they get burnt at the connections as a pump fails (pumps draw excessive current if they short out).

I used a walbro 255. The in tank part was in good shape but I'm not to sure about the harness on the truck side. I'm getting ready to drop the tank

So I got the tank and pump back out and I had a broke wire right at the edge of the connector. Got it back together and running now. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

No problem. Not very uncommon at all. We really should replace the connector (vehicle side) anytime the pump gets replaced for the exact reason you ran into. High current across a connection which can get electrically loose (resistance) what could go wrong? Burnt wires, Burnt terminal connections, bake the plug plastic causing it to get brittle and fall apart. These plugs can be had at just about any auto parts store and rockauto. Never reuse the harness within tank for a pump!
