A rep. from gmpartsdirect.com told me this part #25811737 has been discontinued and is no longer available from GM. It is the drivers interior door handle cable and door latch asymbly for my 2007 avalanche. The cable in mine broke. Why would any part for an 07 be discontinued? Where part #'s changed? Also why wouldn't I be able to purchase just the cable? I don't need the door latch, which seems to be the most expencive piece of the whole assymbly. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

You need to seek a 2nd or 3rd opinion. Anything to do with whether a door would open or not after a serious crash is a safety issue, the door has to open. For example, you're underwater and the power windows won't work. And I think automakers are required by federal law to make these parts available for 10 years minimum.

I agree. I started my search with local auto parts stores, they said dealer part. Went to dealer, they said its been back ordered for a year. Probably due to the manufacturer that produces for gm stopped making the product (dealer quote). Continued on to an online search, found breakdowns of the door, found part # that matched the one the dealer told me and did a google search. found all kinds of online parts stores. Some didn't recognize the part #, some said part not available. Sooo frustrating.

I would get a second opinion. Have you talked to your dealer about this, yet? I would start there, and they can order one for you as well.

Do you need a VIN too? Geez. How about getting me a 14499099? That was made for the 07+ Tahoe and was discontinued last October. As for the 2nd opinion, I'm way past that at this point.
