Get yourself a computer and cable and hook it up to see exactly what it's doing. If it's not throwing a code it's something mechanical like a bad plug, bad wire, loose wire, cracked boot, base timing is off, etc.

new plugs new wires did it before i changed them. i just set my timing back to 0 it was just a hair bit advanced about .7 degrees. its OBDI so not much i can really see with it hooked up to anything Im going to put a new cap/rotor and coil in soon im sure that wouldnt hurt. there was a bit of corrosion on the coil where the wire connects i cleaned it off when i changed the plugs though.
I know it's ODB1, so is mine. I got myself a cable and hooked up my eeePC, it makes tracking stuff like this down soooo much easier.
what is this and how can i do this
Dis-connect the vac line from the egr valve and we if that helps if it does then the egr valve is bad mine was doing the same thing and that was the prob.
