New here, trying to get a 2021 Yukon Denali, Smokey Quartz/Teak interior because they discontinued that color in 2022 for what reason i have no idea. All dealerships i've talked to said that color was not a bad seller...

Anyway My question is.. IF i find a 2021 with my colors and it doesn't have the Rear Seat Media package, can that be added JUST like IF it was from factory?? Anyone had that done, or knows someone. I just want it exactly like factory, the Touchscreens/programming ect....

Great question. Don’t think I’ve seen anyone do it, not that it’s impossible but I did ask my salesperson when I took delivery and he said it could be warned that it’s really a waste. Not sure how true it is that it can be done but I’ll believe it when someone does it. Honestly recommend you watch YouTube vids about the RES in the 21’s because it does seem like it’s very outdated.

For example you have to manually connect each time you want to view something. After seeing that I’m glad I didn’t get it.

I’ve asked a similar question with the possibility of adding the front cam only with no confirmation it can be done. They sell just the cam just need to figure out how to connect it to the head unit. I find it interesting that Chevy accessories on Chevy.com offers the illuminated front emblem with dealer install but not the front cam or in your case the RES.

I don't believe you can add the RES in any reasonable way. There are some physical differences - e.g. the driver & passenger seats have cutouts in the plastic on top, there's plugs in the center console, etc.

That being said, as SSGUNNER says if you read around on this forum and the interwebs more generally, it seems the RES gets mostly poor reviews. I really don't like how they stick out into the space of the second row and when test driving I whacked my head on one pretty good. So I was specifically looking for a vehicle without it and it was kind of hard to find. A couple iPads for the kids are much more flexible in use and easier to upgrade or replace if broken.

iPads are also cheaper route to go. Only draw back to iPads is the power cords hanging there, but there are two charging plugs on the back of the front console to keep them charged.

It does, but I will say the 21 model is better than the 22. We mostly have been able to do what we want with ours including screen mirroring off of Iphone's and playing things off of USB's and etc. It's not wizard level but far better than the limitations imposed on the 2022 model.

My wife has a 2021 Suburban. We use Apple products and honestly haven't figured out how to use the RSE. I've tried a few times and have not gotten anything to chromecast or screen mirror. Like some other posters I think it is honestly a wasted option if you are an Apple user. DVDs don't really exist anymore, but it would have been nice to have a hidden DVD player like our Durango R/T.

It's beyond dumb they have apple carplay and android auto on the front screen but apple products are incompatible for streaming to the rear screens while apparently android devices can. Makes absolutely no sense for them to do this
