Learn me on these. I am going to add a full size spare soon, got the wheels and just need to tires.

Regardless, what is a good jack that will lift either by tahoe or burban? Where do they lift from? How big are they as I wish to jockey it back and forth between the trucks depending on what I am driving, the spare tires will be mounted in the truck also.

Pictures, thoughts, anything at all will be nice.

www.hi-lift.com is probably the best out there. These are primarily designed to lift by bumper one wheel at a time and have accessories to use on curved bumpers and to even lift by tire if you needed to put traction boards down. They should have all the accessories you need for lifting, stowing and what not.

I am very hesitant to lift this heavy burban up by the bumper. I don't wheel basically ever anymore due to kids and money. I am tempted to just buy another floor jack and throw it in the truck

Hi-Lift jacks are great especially for getting unstuck but they are heavy and kind of awkward/cumbersome. If all you are looking for is a jack to lift your rigs for maintenance then a floor jack or a bottle jack is a much better option. That being said, I have used mine for everything from getting unstuck in mud and snow to moving a shed and it is a great tool to have in your inventory.

Greg, any trouble when lifting at the bumper? This will only be used for tire changes when not at home. Home is no problem. I like the concept and additional uses. I simply need to get the tire off the ground to change a flat when the time comes

just use the right adapter and lift it near the frame mount. Or if you get an extreme hi-lift use the tire hook option if strong enough and hook it to a shackle adapter on hitch.

I am open to ideas here. Those hi-lift jacks look like they are made for jeep bumpers and aftermarket armor. My tahoe has painted everything, I will never lift by a painted part.

i have a high lift in the garage that i need to get around to mounting in the tahoe.

im pretty sold on getthing the wheel strap for it to use it that way as i would hate for the damn thing to slide off the jack. would just have to have a block to throw under the axle. 3 ton floor jack is to short as it is.

Kris, I would agree with all that has been said. I have never lifted my tahoe by the bumper with it yet as I have not had a need to but I would go with what Jonathan said and lift from a frame point (I do not trust these bumpers much anymore especially the front due to the SRS). I got the jack back when I was running jeep CJ's and it used to lift/throw them around pretty easily when I stuck them but those were pretty light and had solid bumpers.

It is great having a jack that can do duty as a winch/come along when you need it that is for sure.
