HI. Old school gearhead here that was in the auto industry for about 10 years in my teens and twenties. Used to drag race, little circle track and demolition back in the day. I still have my 69 Camaro that I have owned since 1991, albiet sitting at the moment in primer. I have built several old school small blocks. New to and learning about the LS platform.
Upon retirement, I wanted very badly to leave the great state of California, but the wife would not go. So the compromise was to move up to the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Now she agrees I was right....
I bought her a 2007 Yukon Denali because she still works, has about a 25 minute drive and we do get a fair amount of snow. I thought I did my due diligence regarding the dreaded AFM and found that the 07 6.2 had the AFM components but not the tune in the ECM. All good so I thought....wrong.
I got burned, literally for the first time ever buying a vehicle. I'm pissed at myself for missing it. But the low oil pressure only showed itself at hot idle. I drove it, ran fine good oil pressure, extremely good condition and only 127K. Guy said he really only used it to tow his boat to the lake and back which was like 10 miles from his home. I noticed it was leaking from damn near every orrifice but after my test drive, I crawled all over that thing as it idled in the driveway and didn't recheck the oil pressure while idling. My bad. So 10K miles, 2 oil changes, and a bunch of work later, its just been a continual downhill slide to the point I can't drive this thing over 50 miles without the oil pressure getting to where my engine building brain just not drive it even though we have never had the low oil signal go off. Looks like at this point the cam bearings are toast.
I will be posting my troubles in the 07-14 engine drivetrain section and could use some experienced opinions as I decide how to move forward.
Thanks in advance
