Has anyone here ever heard of only one side coming on at first when you first unlock the vehicle? I went with "high end" HID lights to avoid any issues, I spent $350 on 6000k's, and this is whats happening... the place I went to said its a very common problem with GM's? -- if it does this at first, and I lock / unlock it again, the second time always works...???

Thx for any input!

Were your "High end" HID's installed with a harness? I'd bet your shop's HID's came from the same factory as DDM's $45 ones, and without a harness you are bound to run into problems especially when the vehicle is off, such as your problem.

You should for the life of the bulbs turn off approach lighting in your DIC, all the other lights will still flash except headlights.

Cool, thanks - I'll try that!... They have ballasts - is that what your referring to as a harness?

I just don't get why it would flash them both on correctly the second time?

Hi Jason,

Do you have a link for the HIDs and ballasts you bought?

These are rather typical issues that people run into with some inferior made in china hardware or if the setup isn't wired/connected properly.

he just needs the relay harnesses...it will solve your problem

the ballast pulls a large current to "boot up" and the relay helps support this

Yes, disable the approach lighting. That quick flash during the unlock/lock event is ******* the ballasts/bulbs.

i just bought a spare set of bulbs off fleabay for $15 for two

DDM tuning won't ship them for a week (from china) and it takes a week to get here.
not a big fan of them if you are in a rush.

FWIW, my passenger side would NOT work
changed ballasts, bulbs, bought new balllasts, new bulbs.

finally took the air box out, and the wire from the headlight bulb goes to a connector on the main wiring harneses, and I took that plug apart one night, about a dozen times, troubleshooting it.

it was worked 100% since I took that connector apart.

the approach lighting is worth it's weight in gold for safey, IMHO.
i was building and selling kits for $50 to put it on Dodges on the dodge forum.
they were laying under your car and cutting your achilles tendon in Virginia a few years ago. good to be able to see around your vehicle

When you cut off approach lighting all it cuts off is your headlights, all other lights still work. Unless you have puddle lights, you are f*cked anyway if someone is laying under cars cutting achilles.

Don't ever tell that story again btw. I am going to be looking under my Tahoe with the flashlight on my phone every time I approach it at night now!!
