I read all the posts about HID but am still confused....I decided to buy them but have some questions. I decided to go 6K in the head lights but noticed they make 35 and 55w ballasts. So what do I buy?

Then I want to instal them in the fogs, What do I go with? I only see 3000K, 10K and 15K?

Thanks in advance!

Also who makes a "better" kit....dont want to be replacing bulbs/ballasts every 3 weeks like my buddy at work who bought a 25$ kit off ebay.....

Lower the watt the better for fogs. I run a 25w 6k in my fogs and my lens has not shown any signs of melting. even after a straight use of 3 + hours. you want to stay around 6k for the brightest most usable light. Anything above 8k is More Hue in light but not as bright lighting on the road. Plus you tend to piss other drivers off. 3k is gonna be more Yellow.

I run 55w 6k in my headlights and they are fine

35W is ample. 55W is just blinding. Now all you need is to retrofit some projectors in your housings :)

A lot of people run 2500k or 3000k for fogs bc the yellow light gives more light output bc of the kelvin temp. 5000k or 6000k for the low beams is definitely the best/most light output.

Yeah, the retrofits are next on the to do list....

Let me ask you something. I really want a blueish/purple color but you guys are telling me the higher the number 6k,8, 10K etc the more lite I lose so instead iof going with a 35w 6K kit why dont I go with say 10 or 12k with 55w ballasts? IDK just asking.....

Bc regardless of the 35w or 55w ballast, the higher kelvin temp you go, the less you will be able to see. I too liked 10k once upon a time, then went to 8k, then 6k, then 5k. Trust me I've had pretty much the whole spectrum and 5k is by far the best. I've had several friends get tickets for 10k-12k lights too.

5k? Let me ask you something is the bulb specific to the ballast? If I buy say 8K can I later swap to 6K? Just curiuos.......

Maybe I will go 5K top and bottom, IDK yet.

Besides the looks the real reason I am going HID is when I go upstate there are no effen lights and while only 35 years old my eyes are not what they use to be. So I need something that will produce more light more then the looks. I know I need to retrofit but first thing is first.......

Yes you can always switch bulb colors!
But I think you'd be happy with 8k out put...

However 6k and 5k AND 4.3k will all yield better output.

Yea you can change just the bulbs. Most light is def 5k. I'd do 5k all around if I were you.
