My company throws an annual party for management every year. This year it was at the W hotel here in Atlanta. After getting the hoe back from the valet, my driver sides light was flickering. Since then, it starts to flicker after its been on for a couple of minutes. Its only the drivers side. I checked the ground and power and they both look good. I did notice some of the wiring could be cleaned up and shrink wrapped vs wrapped in electrical tape. I figured out that if I turn the lights off and then back on, the light doesnt flicker for a short time. Also, on occasion, there will be no flickering at idle but once I pull away, it starts up again. Seems to me that its the ballast, sorry I dont know the brand off hand as they came with the truck so I'll have to get pics. Any suggestions? If I have to get a new ballast, whats my best/cheapest bet?

its either a bad bulb or a bad ballast. DDMtuning.com or Sonictuning.com have good quality HIDs. i like the ones that sonictuning sells. the owner is a friend of mine and is like couple miles from my house. DDM tuning is cheaper though and heard good reviews about them.

Do What I did and it really gives you a piece of mind. Order another set for $40 or less shipped and just leave it in your house. And one day my ballast died (it was a DDM, but these things happen) and all I had to do was quickly replace it and now I have 1 extra ballast incase something else happens and 2 extra bulbs for same scenario. Its too cheap not to pick up another set to have as "backup" :imo:

Good idea. I need to pull the ballast and get a pic to see which brand it is. It doesnt look like the DDM's on their site. One of my pet peeves is different/not PERFECTLY matched headlights. Whats the chance, that if another ballast goes out and I have to use one of the old ones, they will match? I guess this is all meaningless untill I get out there and take it apart. Wifey gave me a todo list today that doesnt include the 'hoe.

Did you not get the lifetime warranty with you DDM hids? You could've shipped in the bad ballast for a replacement.

im pretty sure it just says lifetime warranty. everybody knows a bulb/ballast has a certain amount of hours that it'll last. once you pass those im pretty sure warranty wont cover it. i spend about $65 per set and that lasts me about 3 years.

turned out to just be the bulb, switched it to the other side and the problem followed. Now the problem is stopping myself from making this a major upgrade-Depos and 55W 6000K's. Turns out I have some 35W 6000K's for the lows, stock highs. I want to order a ballast set from DDM and a set of replacement bulbs for the old set. I dont think I want to invest in the fogs yet as one of the lenses is busted ($20) and I dont see that bumper combo lasting too much longer. I disconnected the bad bulb for the time being so I need to make a decision soon.

If you have to order new HIDs might as well get new Depo housings to show off the new HIDs.:Big Laugh::naughty:

I have this same problem with mine. I'm checking the bulb today. Hopefully that's the problem...
