unknown at this time.
Do this procedure and report back the code please.

Displaying Diagnostic Trouble Codes

  1. Install jumper wire between DLC terminal 13 and ground, Fig. 25 . The DLC is located under the lefthand side of the instrument panel, right of the steering column.
  2. Turn ignition switch to On position.
  3. Wait three seconds, then observe transfer case switch status lamps.
Reading Diagnostic Trouble Codes
The transfer case status lamps will flash to indicate the DTC's stored in memory. If only one DTC is stored in memory, that DTC flashes repeatedly with a three second delay between flash sequences. If more than one DTC is stored in memory, the first DTC flashes once, then the next code is flashed. This sequence continues to flash until the jumper wire is disconnected.

More help needed please
I carried out the DTC code 1 diagonstic on the 4x4 system today step 2 and 3 were both ok 5 volts at the 4 terminals to the encoder and less than 2 ohms to plug A.
The next step is to replace the shift motor on the t-case, I took out the 4 small screws holding on the plastic case, the case would pull back about half inch and would not move any more, I stopped to ask at this point because I don't want to damage anything.
Thanks in advance.

Removed the encoder and motor assemby, the electric motor smelt burnt, checked the motor and it was dead, so will order a new part tomorrow, I hope that works.

Usually that's what goes out, quite common. Let us know what happens.
