How can I open the liftgate once it stops working?

Goes back to first complaint which he says was April 13. Right out of warrantee. Did you ever check the vins service records to see if the original owner had this issue while under warrantee.

All the work done except for one latch that I had replaced was under warranty by the previous owner. I guess that is why he got rid of it. I didn't see the the stack of invoices until after I had bought the truck.

Take it up with the GM of the dealership. MAKE them fix the problem. Canada doesn't have a lemon law like here in the states. They do have a form of arbitration (CAMVAP) on a new vehicle, but it would take some looking into to see if your situation applies.

Quick update.
I removed the interior panel of the liftgate and manipulated the wiring and and latch and also the safety switches at the sides of the liftgate. To date I have not had a single hiccup since my last post. I am beginning to wonder if the safety switches were causing the intermittent problem.
