When you repin the 2 connectors, make sure they are oriented the way they plug into the PCM or you will have to flip them and may not have enough slack.

Wiring the trans harness splice was the hardest part.

You will need to do a crank relearn probably at a dealer with tech2 unless you have EFI live.

My truck fired right up on the first try and ran great.
Now I have a BB tune, bought EFI live, and am tweaking the tune to my liking.
Truck runs even better now.
It was worth the $120 (shipped) for the calibrated PCM

Yeah it sounds more fun that way. If I could find the four older pcm sockets I would just make a quick change adapter harness.

I was going to do that, but I think it would take too much time or cost too much to find the sockets, etc.

Hey guys did a quick search & ended up here... Im gonna wake this thread/ Sunlit up a bit... I'm reposting here and there im hopes I can get an answer here, & hopefully help sum1 else out...

Has any1 had any issue passing smog tests in CA after the 411 swap..? I heard that it will not pass because the pcm will read as a 02 chevy express van... And I think just on looks... That in CA u can not swap pcms... I mean sure I could just swap my old black box in but c'mon re-pinning once is hard enough im not trying to do this every time im going to smog... so looking 2 hear back from u guys especially u Californians...

thought you were supposed to be able to program it to read what ever you like including vin. as for looks put some make shift cover over it to hide the look. they are not specifically looking for the pcm.

411 swap

Read the instructions and wire mapping thoroughly and be comfortable. Don't rush and make sure you mark off each wire change or else you will second guess yourself. I recommend putting a trailer harness on the transmission splice so it can be disconnected like all the other harnesses. I got the kit from Lextech and it was completly worth it. He added the transmission wires to the plugs already so You just had to solder them together.

As far as smog... I'm in NY and it passed cause they don't look at specific PCM's to match the truck. If you order form Lextech, you can give him the vin and other info to match your specs.

Here are a few pics:
