To answer your question.
I put in a hidden switch in the starter solenoid wire in a 2006 Tahoe I just purchased.
The switch is under the air cleaner box inside the sheet metal bracket - I lift the hood to get to it.
My Suburban got stolen 4 weeks ago - we'll see if this slows'em down.
Considering adding a "club" as a possible visible deterrent.

I have no good answer for providing theft protection. but on the topic, there was an episode of 20/20 or nightline or something that showed just how easy it was to steal the escalade specifically. something with the column and park assembly that breaks easily. they showed on camera thieves walking in, breaking the shift lever, then literally having another car pull up behind them and push it away. in all of about 60 seconds the truck was gone.

If they want it bad enough they will get it but that doesnt mean you gotta make it easy for them..... A hidden kill switch is a good place to start......locking doors, obviously

I wired up an inline switch on my fuel pump quite a few years ago on another car, I figure that way even if they know how to hot wire or find a key they won't get anywhere, they'd have to tow it...

Jimmy Jammers will help prevent the thieves from getting in the door. A train horn hooked up to the factory alarm and hidden kill switch.

I have my alarm on, try to park in a well lit area (when I'm not home), and have good insurance coverage.

Somewhat related. I noticed the other day when I turned the key off the steering didn't lock. I moved the steering wheel back and forth and still it didn't catch. Is something broken or missing? I probably didn't move the steering enough for it to catch. The vehicle is a 2006 Tahoe.
