How happy are you with your 2021/22 Tahoe/Yukon?

I wish it had been an actual accident or collision. It would be a lot easier to explain for sure. Pretty much the impossible, yet it happened. The dealership tech was guessing the sequence of events. He thinks there was some steps missed or a part put in backwards at the manufacture. He also said in his 20+ years he has never seen anything like this before as well. But, it sure explains my sudden stop then rough bronco ride to the shoulder where I sat for almost 5 hours because OnStar failed at giving tow truck driver the correct address and phone number multiple times to add to my eventful breakdown. I am constantly checking my GM maintenance app for any changes since this was my very first brand new vehicle. I've been very diligent and caring toward my new ride.

Yeah some time thats all it is. Bad luck. Hopefully they fix it quickly.

I doubt it was a part installed backwards. Probably a u joint that siezed and sheared or the bearing in the diff output siezed which in turned sheared off the drive shaft.

My 21 Yukon SLT recently went back to the dealership on a hook. Was on the highway. Slowing down to about 45 mph due to traffic and upcoming exits. Came to a compete abrupt stop. Felt like someone had impacted me from behind. As per observation, no one was that close yet. Vehicle stalled. I restarted then it was surging and jumping forward like a frog. I was able to limp it to the shoulder. All dash lights flashing saying engine & transmission issues detected. Couldn't restart after resting on shoulder. Sat at dealership for over a week before diagnosis. They say the front deferential went out. drive shaft broke. drive shaft hit oil pan and seized up the motor. I had no impact with any object, just driving along highway after leaving dealership for a 3rd row seatbelt bolt recall. I've had no issues or any warning that something was wrong. All maintenace and service up to this point with no red flags or issues detected.

Suffered a concussion, neck and back issues from this incident. Will probably be months before I see my vehicle again. New engine is at least 3 weeks out. Thank goodness for that warranty. i've had it just over a year. Only 8552 miles and already dead in the water...

That's the kind of fault that could cause a serious accident if it happened at the wrong time. I suspect this is one that GM will investigate internally.

These diffs have been pretty well flushed out over many years in service with billions of miles behind them. The only thing I can think of that would stop a vehicle that abruptly would be a totally metallurgical failure of a major component in the front diff, such as the carrier fracturing and coming apart. Or, the thing was never filled with lubricant. I suspect the u-joint was just a casualty of the initial failure.

If it were my truck, I'd want them to inspect the entire driveline for damage before I accept it back.

I'll piggyback. I have had a pretty rough run. I had 2015 Denali that ran amazing. I brought it in for service, front struts, battery, new radiator, some other stuff. The dealership failed to reconnect the transmission fluid return line properly to the radiator and it blew while my wife was driving my kids. Ran dry. Destroyed the tranny, 4wd, everything. Dealership says sorry how about a 2021 yukon denali (this is Nov 2020). The new truck stranded me 4 times with a no key fob detected error. Dealership tried to fix it 3 times. Lemon on 4th. Traded up to the Escalade 2021 ESV because you couldn't get the Denali's with all the packages anymore because the chip issue just started. This is March 2021. In 2000 miles, the right speaker on the AKG was screwed up and had to be replaced. At 12000 miles I was hit by the odd bank lifter failer. At 17000 miles the injectior wiring harness ground connecter broke and the truck had to be towed. And now my left rear tail light is out and the truck smells like exhaust in the cabin sometimes which made me think that the manifold is shot or whatever from maybe the lifter service.

I love the truck for what it can do. Camping. Paddle boards. Towing. Offroading to camp sites. Road trips galore. Ski trips. Fits 7 people and the dog. It's just damn I feel like 2021 /2022 is just plagued.

I'm genuinely happy about my purchase. I'm not one of those people that constantly needs the latest and greatest model every few years or when the latest generation comes out. There's a certain emotional attachment when you get a new car because there are certain core memories that stand out when using that vehicle. So far I haven't created any solid memories yet, but I'm sure I'll create some over the years in my Yukon.

Had my 22 SLT Duramax for about six weeks and ~3000 miles now, other than a weird check engine light for the ABS that appeared for no reason and went away on its own the same day the first week I had it, it's been trouble free. Been loving the mileage and the ride quality.

That sounds familiar; I usually drop a pile of gold on a suburban or Yukon and keep it 8-9 years. Every time I’ve been driving the “old” one to the dealer to trade it (total of 2x the last 18 years), it feels like I am finally throwing out my worn out favorite sweatshirt that I caught that big fish wearing; or watched my kid succeed at something; or was sitting on the couch in when my team won that big game…amazing how these vehicles become part of your life.

That said; I’m in month 10 of ownership of this Denali; so far it’s been really good: already pulled my boat to Canada for a Fishin trip, moved my kid to her final college apartment; serviced wife and I and 2 other couples on a memorable long weekend brewery tour across central MN, and pulled my boat to the lake 10 or so awesome fishing days. Hoping for another 7-8 years of this fun: a few more moves of the kids, a lot more Fishin trips, maybe some cross country road trips, and if I’m lucky; hauling some grandkids someday??

This is what these trucks are all about. Sometimes when I'm doing maintenance I enjoy reflecting back on the incredible journeys we've taken ours on and the memories attached to them. Epic drives. Weddings. Basketball games. Nice dinners out. Camping trips to the beach. Ski trips. Funerals. Yellowstone. Huge thunderstorms. Blizzards. Forests. Mountains. Deserts. Laughs. Love. Tears. Gratitude. Intense sorrow.

About a year after my wife and I met we took a camping trip alone together through western Colorado and drove from Silverton to Durango at dusk one evening in our 2012 XL. It was a solemn but beautiful drive I will never forget. Earlier that day we'd witnessed a man (74 year old grandfather) fall to his death while posing for a picture for his daughter. His grandchildren saw it happen. There was no way to get to him so my wife sat with the family while they sobbed in shock while I climbed the mountain to see if I could get a signal to summon help. Ran into another hiker on the way who had a satellite phone and he called search and rescue. Then my wife and I hiked out with the family after the rescue team confirmed the man had died.

I keep a lifter from the engine on my desk as a reminder to pause once in a while to honor the experiences we've had with it. And to practice gratitude for every moment we have as a family together.

Only a couple months in. I really love this Tahoe. Don't love the infotainment system, but it's not horrible. I had a 15 Denali that had some weird problems so I traded it. When it was working well , it was a dream. I had an 05 Suburban Z71 that I drove for 8ish years. Sold it for 10K to my best friend who used it "Bubba" as his Vermont truck for another 8 years so I drove it up there too . Lots of memories in the Suburban.
