I been chasing a oil leak I have more or less pin pointed it to the rear main seal of the main seal plate.

I have pulled transmission before out other vehicles just asking are the bell housing bolts a pain to get in and out.

And is there enough room to just slide the trans far enough back to remove the Flex plate and fix the seal issue.

It is also a 4X4.

I also think about letting a shop do it also.

I know what involved doing this job. I don't want to spend the money then again if they screw up they have to fix it.

If labor is around $500.00 I let them do it but if some where around $1500.00 range might as well have drop a rebuilt motor instead that just about it cost for labor to pull and put in a new motor.

I get a bone yard motor and rebuild one.

Not hard. Top bolts are the ones that suck. I use a long extension to get to it. You gotta pull the trans dip stick off to get it to move back. Imo I'd drop it to get a good view of the seal. The y pipe has to come off aswell.

X2. You do need to remove the trans. 2 extra sets of hands works best for help and a beer chaser. The long extension with a wobble socket at the end works well. Do those first IMO so that the easier to reach ones are removed as it starts to separate. Support the trans and back of engine. Jack stand for engine with a small 2x4 or another floor jack. Use FELPRO parts and clean area really good and inspect before reinstall.

Trans jack is the best. You lucky dog. But a lift with the tall roll around trans jack is even better.

Pulled the Transmission not that bad I did not separate the transfer case, I did remove the torsion bar cross member and slide the transmission back 8 inches or so replaced the main seal and put back together.

I once again a one man job.

Every time I do this kind of work sure love my air tools and yes I have a transmission jack.
