This is a steering column lock plate. There is no tapping with a hammer on this part.

This is the average tool you'll find at a parts store. As you can see it's far too wide for our application. The forks are aluminum so bending them to fit would make the tool very week. I also tried 8" C clamps but there isn't enough room for them to bite on to without flexing the lock plate too much.
