Hi,
I am new to trucks. I have always had sports cars, but am currently looking at trading a neighbor for his 1999 Tahoe LS 4x4. I have a 1987 Porsche 944 (non-turbo) that he would like to trade for his Tahoe. I figure my 944 would fetch about $4500-5000, so I think we are in line. His Tahoe is Grey Metallic, cloth interior (missing center console, as the vehicle was used by a police department, somewhere). Motor is the 5.7L V8 which the long block was replaced recently (don't know exactly how many miles are on the truck or motor/trans/rear). At the same time (or close to it) the transmission was rebuilt, along with the rear end. Open issues with the truck, per my neighbor:
1. Blows fuse when you try to put it in 4WD, I think this may be the transfer case motor, from what I have read.
2. Power Steering leak - Pump was replaced about 1 year ago. Still leaks a little, I am not sure where it is coming from, as I have not looked under the hood.
3. Missing center console - Not a big deal.
What do you all think of this type of trade? The 944 needs interior work badly (seats need reupholstry, carpet needs replacement). Other than that, the car is in excellent shape.
I would have liked leather interior in the Tahoe, but have found enough sellers on eBay that the swap won't be hard...but are the wiring harnesses under the carpet on an LS, if I do swap? Or, do I need to get the LT harnesses? Any insight you can give me or what stuff to look at would be great (other than the basics). I am looking to get something a little bigger for my wife, our dog and I to travel in. It is a little crowded in the Charger we have and it is a no-go in the Corvette. Thanks in advance on any info you can give me.

sounds like a good deal to me, all the problems seem minor as long as the drivetrain checks out and is solid.
