How many quarts of tranny fluid for service??

Getting ready to have my shop do a tranny service for me at 55K. I wanted to bring in my own fluid to use and I need to know how much to buy. Any help would be great, thanks.

Also, any recommendations for fluid would be great too. I was planning on Royal Purple.

I can't exactly remember the amount, but RP is a good start!

I too used RP and for a simple change I think it was 6 quarts, If they do one of those full flush methods then it more like 12

I too love Royal Purple, but your taking a chance. When I contacted RP they recommed their ATF, but told me it would void my warranty. They said you have to use the GM stuff to keep your warranty

If you take the pan off and change the filter, you are probably looking at about 9 quarts.

The transmission design is good and I have had no problems with any of them leaking, so buying extra transmission fluid, would in my opinion just be a waste of money. Unless you saw it as a investment, then you could buy as much as you want and save it for a later date when the price is sure to go up.

There is no reason to buy Royal Purple since the manufacturer calls for their own transmission fluid - which by all means is just as good or even better then the Royal Purple stuff.
