I’ve always been under the impression that coil packs are considered good until they fail, with no need to replace otherwise.

Then I read somewhere about coils being needed to be replaced every 100k miles?

(I’m currently at 153k miles with original coil packs).

Does anyone do this? Would I get better MPG and/or performance from fresh coil packs?

(About to do a tune up, so wonderingwhether to also replace the coils packs).

when I had my 00 the originals were still good at 240k, I put in a new motor and when I did that I used all new everything except the intake manifold.
on the old ladys 04 though I got a couple bad ones at around 180k so I replaced them all.
as long as you are not getting any misfires they should be fine the ones from 00/01 are the same and they seemed to hold up pretty good and I was pretty abusive to the vehicle.
if you decide to replace them Herko sells them on ebay and from what I understand they are oem without the oem labels or they are made in the same factory or whatever I have used there coil packs and injectors and never had any problems, prices are good. I put the parts side by side and you could tell they were the same and on the injectors they just removed the oem label so they could re-market them I could see where they had used something to remove the label.

I'm at 200K, had to replace one around 185k when it started misfiring and throwing a code.
