There is actually a marking (usually) somewhere on an LED. But the easy way is that the positive is generally the longer leg.

You can always solder one LED to the board using the longer leg as positive then go back and plug the harness in and see if it lights up. You'll find out soon enough which is correct polarity (given that you soldered correctly) and then you can keep on going with the rest of the LEDs.

No problem! Just make sure you don't forget your resistors on the positive leg!

Ok I think I may have figured out an easy way. It seems that on the side of the bulb with the short leg there is a flat spot. If I hold it at just the right angle it looks like it has a negative symbol on it.

Short leg is negative. Long leg is positive. Give it a shot and see what the result is :)

I did my steering wheel tonight. I think it looks goods, but could be a tad brighter.

Anybody know if the wiring for the steering wheel controls are present in the column if the Tahoe did NOT originally come with the controls on the wheel?

I have an 03 Z71, it has just about all the stuff except those, the sunroof, and the home link in the map light console.

I did add a map light console with the home link option, nice to have the garage door opener there.

No, the wires are not in the column. To add steering wheel controls to a truck that didn't come with it, you will have to change the entire steering column, or else replace the entire harness and clock spring mechanism. There is a write up on here somewhere, I think a member named "TIMMY" did one.
