I just wanted to say "thank you very much for this post"! I followed your steps word for word. The fan worked flawlessly so far. I live in Texas and it is brutal heat right now. My family thanks you too!

Post #2 has the p/n’s and Amazon or EBay has the fans. They don’t show a harness included but it must be.
AcDelco 15-8686
I did Google those, but it was showing different harnesses for that same part number. I figured I'd ask since he already did it. Just as a confirmation.

I just noticed the harness is separate. The GM number looks legit, not sure about the other aftermarket ones.

I found all of it on e-bay. They are fairly old nowadays. So, it was nice to find a brand new harness. I would just keep hunting on e-bay. The numbers are changed sometimes. You can cross reference the numbers on AC Delco's website.

Don't mean to bump up an thread. Want to make sure the trigger wire would be the same for a 2001 Tahoe with rear AC?

In case anyone still reads this, question:

The dark green wire that gets tapped into, is this the same dark green wire that comes off "a/c compressor clutch relay" according to the schematic? Just want to make sure it's not the dark green/white wire that also goes to the "a/c compressor clutch relay"

My reason for asking is that I want to do this mod on a 2003 Chevy Express van first and want to make sure I am using the equivalent wire.

Also has there been any power issues with anyone running the a/c compressor clutch while tapped into the new harness relay? I'm leaning towards no since the fan motor gets power from the red wire mounted the fuse block and the purple to dark green wire is just a signal wire for the relay. Can someone confirm?
