How to do the 4 or 6 high mod on an 03-06 full size truck for $3.00

So I have done this before with the 3 amp 50 volt diode on an old denali but have since sold it and bought another denali, but this time I went to Radio shack, all they had was 3 amp 200 volt and 3 amp 400. Can I use any of these? Or should I wait until I can find 3 amp volt again?

Nope they will work just fine. The amperage rating is how many amps can be safely pulled through the diode, and the voltage rating is the max voltage it can handle. The relays pull less than .5 amps, and the voltage is 12-14.8 so anything rated higher than that you are good to use...

Just did the mod today took me about 15 minutes to do. Using th hammer to flatten the ends really does help. Amazing write up.

If you do the above, which is much more involved, you will have auto fogs with the auto lows, but also the ability to turn on and off the fogs. If you do not care about turning them off and want them on whenever your lows are on, simply do the following:



In that image, just do the wire that is towards the bottom of the image. It links the low to the fog, so whenever the lows are on, the fogs are on. Be sure the diode is facing the correct direction.

So that is a simple diode from HDLP-Low 85 to FOG LP 86.

Just make sure, shouldn't the direction of the diode go the other direction in the pic? Since the low will power the fog? I mean I don't know much about which direction for diodes but when I did high 6 they both went with grey part furthest away from low. Just want to make sure it's the right direction.
