So the original post from the OP, he has hot air blowing out the passenger vents, all other vents blow fine. He replaced the actuator on the floor above the hump and it fixes the problem. So if this is true, why are people tryign to change the actuator behind the radio when they are having the same problem

I had this same problem, and replacing the actuator above the hump fixed it. I believe the actuator behind the radio, which is much more difficult to get to, controls the re-circulation. This one is also not functioning properly on my Tahoe, but as it is difficult to access, and the repair shop wants $$$$ to replace it, I'm just living with the no re-circulation.

My driver side air was blowing cold and my passenger-side was blowing he just like the original poster had stated. The actuator shown in the pictures is for the driver side controls not the passenger side controls. I really don't understand how replacing the actuator for him fixed his passenger side blowing hot air? The passenger AC actuator is the one that is behind the dash. This means there is no point in replacing that actuator which is under the hush panel if the driver side air is working.

Are there 2 actuators in the front? Mine has the heat on all the time on the front drivers side and passanger. The rear works fine. Minus the ac. The ac light just flashes when I press it also. It's a 2001 Yukon XL.

Yes, there are two actuators. The easy one to get to, just above the trans hump, is for the driver's side. I'm not sure what the other is for, I've heard it's for the passenger side, and I've heard it's for the re-circulation. I replaced my driver's side actuator with little problem and it works perfectly now.

Does it sound like that's what I should fix, the actuators? Or could it be the control head? Just trying to save sum money and fix the right thing. Any ideas?

I just wanted to say thanks for the write up to the OP. You were right, that last (third) screw was demonic, but other than that everything was right down the line. Thanks.
