Is there a "how to" on removing this cover?
I'm having a hard time removing this, actually, I cant remove it.
I have removed every other panel but need that cover to be removed to accomplish my "project".

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks:Handshake:

i think it just pops out, yeah. take a flat head a pry into it from the left side, the hazard button stays in place.

Thanks

ohhh man...Its a real pain to get that thing off. Theres a tiny pin that locks you ignition lock into place. You need a small pick or stiff wire with a 90 degrees bend in it to push it in, and you have to hold the key in the starting position to be able to depress the pin and slide this ign lock out. That is the ONLY way to get it off with out breaking the column shroud.. i learned the hard way..i ended up just getting pissed and ripping it off and breaking it...but it made it much easier to install the new one. hope this helps

Oh jeesh, I have read about that pin and the removal. I thought it was on the older models (88-95). A kid that works with me just did this and told me about it.
I cant believe they hide that pin under the cover though, great job GM, hah.
How the heck do I know where the pin is located?
Thanks

its pretty hard to see but if you take all the screws out of the cover you can lift it just enough to see a small hole in line with the ign lock. when you find the hole you wont see or feel the pin until the key is in the start position.

Oh g-d, please tell me I dont have to remove the steering wheel and airbag to replace my ignition lock housing.
There has got to be a way to do it without doing so.
Great pics none the less, hah.
