Hey guys... Maybe a noobie question here but need some help..
I recently bought an 01 tahoe with 141,000 miles on it. It has been a one owner for the last 13 years and most of the service records are available throughout the entire life of the rig on carfax... I bought it from a dealership though not a private seller. How do I know what engine oil they used? If they used regular oil over the past 141,000 miles I don't want to switch to synthetic (don't want to argue about this, I just don't want to switch to a thinner oil after so many miles). The carfax doesn't help other than it shows the changes... What would be my best bet in figuring this out? I suppose if they used full synthetic the past 141k miles reg wouldn't hurt? Don't really want to send it off to some "lab" either if I don't have to. lol.
