Hello All,

I discovered that my passenger side blend door actuator module was bad. I went ahead and replaced the module for the driver's side as it is easy - that went well and works great. However, when I took the passenger side air actuator out, a total pain, and installed a new one, I still get very hot heat, but warm ac. I manually moved the blend door and ac came pouring in like it should, however, with the actuator on it, it does not work correctly, I just get luke warm air on the passenger side like I did before the swap. (screams inside)

I did all the reset procedures I could find for the actuators and still no joy! What the heck is wrong here? I replaced it with a test actuator, but no luck. I don't know what to do. I am seriously considering just taking the actuator out again (screams inside again), and just manually moving it with the seasons. This is crazy!

Any ideas???

Yes, what are the code(s) stored in the BCM for this? The code(s) will tell you which one(s) failed and why or if there is another problem. An advanced scan tool can also see what the computer is commanded the actuators to do and what they are doing. It can also test and reset them. A Tech2 is just as important as wrenches for working on these trucks. They will save you precious time and money.

Solved for now: I unplugged the new passenger side actuator and plugged it back in after the last recalibration and it worked like a charm (did this while the truck was running).

The truck has always been quirky. The mirrors never recall their position, and the driver's side seat sometimes "micro adjusts," when starting the truck. It is slowly rusting away. The quarter panels have rust in them now, but the truck is mechanically sound. It hard to get time to do anything right now. I have no access to my tools, just basic ones. I was able to gain access via the vents, dash pocket, and taking out the airbag to that actuator. So, I did not have to take the whole dash apart thankfully. My arms and hands are bruised and cut though lol.
I bought a scanner a while back, had to sell it when my mom was diagnosed. I sold everything except for the truck, wifes car, and a few other small items. I sold my daily driver, a 14 RS Camaro as well...it was red with a manual...God, I miss that car. My wife and I have been living with my parents helping my mother through radiation, which failed, now on to chemo (we are flying to Texas tomorrow in hopes that she can get into a trial - it's critical she has access to heat and air when I take her to appointments. My brother is severely disabled as well, so I have to help bathe him and take care of him - glad to do all of this but its hard. My father has been little, to no help. He cleans a little and then complains about everyone. He has withdrawn into himself (I get it, she is stage 4 and his other son is severely disabled) and has a disdain for my wife and I that I do not understand, we do everything to help. Everytime I fix something around the house or help out with the yard work he is so nasty! I do not get it. Thank you for the recommendation, if anything else goes wrong I will have to buy a scanner I guess, all our money has gone/ and is going for treatment for my mother.

He's probably bitter at himself for being unable to do what you both are doing for all of them. It's not right, it's nonsensical, but could be what's happening. If you post up where you live, maybe someone from here lives nearby and has a good scan tool that would be happy to help?

If it starts acting up I certainly will, I sure would appreciate it. I think you are right, I have been trying to figure out the man for most of my life. Don't get me wrong, I love him to pieces, but we are not much alike. When it comes to the outdoors, he will visit a park but that is about it. He was cutting down a large hedge (8ft x 12ft approx) with a handsaw recently, came in complaining about how hard it was. I went out with my Sawzall, one of the tools I refused to sell, and had the thing down in 2 hours...he just glared at me. He never really had time when I was growing up to show me much, my brother has been so sick. I have learned all of my diy skills from books, and then the internet - or when a friend would show me. I have sought out mentors in my life so often. I am the man I am today because of necessity and never giving up (when your wife needs heat in the winter you will figure anything out). I could build my own house if I had to, when it comes to replacing a water valve he calls a plumber or tears it up lol. He keeps messing up his PC and I work in IT and he will ask for my help, and when it's done, he is just dismissive. I cannot say anything because it's his wife and his house, but we were asked to help - its hard to keep a smile on our faces these days. I always try to include him and even play down my skills to make him the hero of the task, but he ends up pissed either way and goes inside and gossips like a 70-year-old grandmother. As you can tell I am frustrated.

My mother is so sick, I am hoping our trip to Texas finds her the trial she needs.
