Jenna,

Could he not purchase a tune from you and not have the "core"? Would this be less than a whole new PCM at the dealer? He would also be getting a better tune than hypertech.

There are a few threads like this on GMFS, for both the Hypertech and the Bullydog handhelds. Unfortunately, from the threads I have seen, it was not a security relearn issue, the handhelds had fried the PCM, and a new one had to be purchased at the dealer.

Whats even more confusing is my scanner will communicate with the PCM, it reads the vin# and checks for DTC's & such... The handheld tuner also acts like it's communicating, even turns on dash lights, fuel pump, etc. when it's doing it's thing, says tuning complete and everything... engine just wont run now. Im just limited as to what parameters i can see because i only have a handheld scanner ($159.99 O'Reilly's special)... Is it possible my PCM is completely fried or do you think i could just get it re-flashed with a custom tune from Blackbear or something? I've read a little about custom tuning but i want to avoid spending un-necessary $ if possible... I have a friend that has a Blackbear tune and he is very happy with it.

Unfortunately, until you can get into that PCM, you are stuck unless you swap it out.

What we could do, is send you a PCM for your year for you to swap out, but your stocker wouldn't be able to be returned for a core refund.

Shoot me an email if you want to go that route, could probably have one in the mail as early as today or tomorrow. [email protected]

Call hypertech and piss a fit.

I did call Hypertech and it didn't do any good at all... they blamed everything else BUT the tuner, but i know better... that damn truck was running perfect before I parked it and changed the tune... I even told them that i wasn't looking for anything for free, just advise as to what i needed to do and they couldn't even steer me in the right direction. I honestly didn't expect anything different from them though...

JENNABEAR, i appreciate the info. Im still unsure what im going to do at this point but i will definitely consider Black Bear, I've heard nothing but good things about you guys and your reply to my thread shows me that yall have great customer service as well!
