Hi ...
So I'm trying to figure something out and I need help ...
I am about to order a spare wheel kit for my HyHoe. For those that don't know the Tahoe Hybrid comes without a spare for weight/fuel savings, it comes with an emergency tire inflation thingie.
The spare wheel kit pn is: 22754574
And comes with all the stuff I need including the 17" wheel, hoist, etc, but for the tire itself which I will pick up locally on the cheap.
Now this is where I'm getting myself confused ... there's another hoist out there (pn 19158309) which states the following:
A Spare Wheel Hoist Package is required when installing 22-inch wheels on a full-size SUV that has not come from the factory with this size wheel. The hoist holds up the spare tire beneath the SUV and is capable of handling the additional loads put on your vehicle when 22-inch wheels are installed. For Use on Hybrid Models. Contains Full-Size 17' Spare Wheel, Jack Assembly, Mounting Brackets and Associated Hardware. 17' Spare Tire (89049423) and Rear Fascia Access Hole Cover Sold Separately. Spare Wheel Hoist Package - For Use With Accessory 22' Wheel Only FOR 22' WHEEL ONLY

This makes no sense to me, what does the size of the wheels on the truck have to do with the spare wheel hoist?
Doesn't the hoist just hold up the spare?
And if so, since the spare is the standard 17" why would it require a different hoist just cause I'm rolling on 22s?
I asked my parts guy and he couldn't figure it out either.
I even asked him if escalades had full size spares figuring that the hoist was made for those and he said nope, eskys come with the same 17" spare.
The only thing I could think of is that this hoist is in case someone wanted to shlep a full size spare ... but is that even possible with these trucks? Doesn't seem that it would fit under there. Plus that's not what they are saying in the above description ... as I read it they mean if I have 22s on the truck itself.
I'm at a loss on this one so any help figuring it out is welcome and appreciated.
