I need opinions on this Yukon

Hello every one,

I am in the process of buying my first 1999 4dr 4x4 Yukon. I gave her a brief test drive the other day and I now feel on the fence about buying it or not.

So here is the info about the Yukon.

1999 GMC SLT Yukon 4x4
Their asking $3,500 and state BB value is $6,000+. Its just above 207,000 miles ( service engine soon light shows on the dash).
It's white w/tan leather interior, alarm w/kill switch, tinted windows, front grill guard, 3"-4" lift kit (my guess), over sized tires w/chrome wheels ( that are near 30%), with a "rough" interior.
They say its a "Great vehicle just needs a tune up and oil change"

EDIT: Transmission has been newly rebuilt

My only real note about test driving it was it seems to yank to the left abit hard but I believe it just needs an alignment.

I personally like the look of this truck but I wanted to get a few experienced opinions before committing to the buy or not at all.

thanks

Here's a photo

Welcome to the forum Nikolai, umm sounds like a pretty STEEP price for that many miles :/
I would try to grab one for less miles and not beat up by this guy and do the work your self if the lift is selling the truck to you.

I'd pass on it.

1. Too much, especially with such high miles.
2. I dont trust others work, especially when it comes to suspension work.
3. if the CEL is on, thats not a good sign. It could one of many things if not many different things. That alone can add up including if you have to pay for it.

Did he explain why the SES is on? Codes etc,,,,,,,?
If the interior is "rough", you know the previous owner/owners were rough on it. That tells me they didnt take care of it.
If the tranny was rebuilt, do they have proof? I hear that a lot, then a couple of weeks later it starts to slip and your out a tranny.
I could go on and on. Dont let the lift sell you on the truck, regardless of what it looks like.
PASS on it.

WOW, calm down guys.. High Mile dont mean its still not worth buying.

Check the CODE first. i just recently purchase a Same Truck your buying but its a Denali Version, its a 4x4 also.

it had an Engine code, i check and it was only the O2 Sensor and its need the whole Exhaust system, $500 for california approve.

it also has 200k on the SUV, it runs strong, it sounds great, all work great, and its not lifted.

body was not great, but ok, so i just spend little bit of money and got a new paint and some little body work..

Car runs perfect now, but i had to put about $500 on parts, after that its a Great Best SUV i ever own. i say that maybe because i did all the work done to it, and i know what it could do now,

The guy above is correct, if the inside is not good condition before of them not taking care of it, it show something about that person, but ifs its Leather RIPPING off, its not owner FAULT, Our SUV and know for Leather to RIPPING OFF.

The best thing you could do, is check for OIL LEAK,

Also, NOTE THIS PLS

Suspension GOES really FAST on this SUV, but they are cheap to Replace and REALLY easy to replace also. I purchase my from AUTOZONE and it comes with LIFEtime warranty, so when it goes bad, REmove it, walk to AUtozone , get a NEW ONE,, So when it comes to Suspention,, BUY THE BEST YOU CAN, its WORTH IT.

I'm gonna go ahead and agree with this. Just because it has high miles doesn't mean it's a piece if shit as these trucks run forever with the right maintence. But to me it sounds like they didn't take good care of it and if it were me, I would likely skip on it and hold out for one with less miles, better condition, and a better price.

sounds a little steep to me as well with the unknowns. Arrange to meet the po at autozone/advanced (your choice) and ask to borrow the scan tool, in 5 minutes you will know why the light is on and be able to get a good idea about costs to repair. don't forget to add some $$$ for your labor if your doing the work.

they still lend it out here as well, unless they JUST started doing that.

i agree, check the codes, get proof of work done to it, trans, lift, etc. if the body and engine bay are reasonably clean a bad interior doesn't mean they beat the shit out of it, especially if they aren't the original owner. I have 185,000 on mine. but if its saying its worth 6,000 and he can prove the trans was rebuilt and the codes arent bad, you probably won't be able to talk them down much more than that.
