mine started making noise last march after going to colorado..then went away until last month..it was making noise when i went straight, and when i would turn left..it would go away when i turned right..it was a bad pass side hub..heres how it looked..

this is the bearing that is inside the hub..its what spings the part with the studs on it..it was completely gone..

shit was ready to start on fire...no grease left...we hammered on the hub to break it loose from the spindle, and the part that spins with the studs on it just flew off...bad news...im lucky i didnt have a bad accident..

you're lucky the wheel didn't separate from the truck! I didn't recognize that as a hub at first. I replaced both of mine. I had the exact opposite thing happen and it turned out to be the driver side hub. Sounded like a loud roar until the bad hub was under side load. my other hub was bad too, but didn't make the noise. steering feels a lot tighter after replacing them though. definitely recommend doing them in pairs..

I've always done both sides at the same time so that I'm not down the line trying to remember which one I did, plus it is the piece of mind that I'm not going to be passed up on the freeway by my tire!!:)

wasnt really bad...just 2 bolts for the caliper, and 3 for the hub...and impact is a must though....there is also the nut on the end of the cv axle...once those are off, its just a matter of breaking everything loose..we pounded and pryed for about 25 minutes before it finally popped off..but its really not to hard

The only reason you didn't lose the wheel and hub was that the cv axle and its nut was holding it together! :signs8:

very easy to replace these, took me about 1.5 hours to do both sides on mine, but i wasnt as lucky to catch mine in the early process my wheel actually fell off, well not completely out but when the pressure was off the hub it basically just fell to the ground
