Should anything be done to the transfer case? or what about a locker or posi trac? Is it just as simple as dropping in the gears on a 4x4?

Nothing has to be done with Tcase I believe, I would suggest a LSD (limited slip differential)
What size tires are you planing, cause I can tell you now that 4.30s a a bit to high for all the hwy driving you talk about.
I run a 31.2 diameter tire, with 3.73 gears and I cruse at 75mph at 2100 rpm. Perfect street crusier IMO, sometimes I spurt to tripple digits as well. I can also tell you it will roast them no problem. Seems like you need a custom tune as well.
