Nope, no problems at all. The main purpose behind GM adding those lines in the first place was to help get the engine up to operating temp faster in colder climates by warming the intake air - they aren't required for proper operation of the TB itself. Its so close to the motor anyway that the ambient temp in the engine bay would prevent any icing, even in extremely cold climates. I ran it through many sub-zero Colorado winter days with the lines disconnected, never had any issues.

There are canadian members over at denalitrucks.com that haven't had issues with the coolant bypass, my truck is just fine and I've had my truck parked in -20 weather. Low compression + aluminum heads ftw.

Bringing it back from the dead...

Well, here we are another year later. Driving home from work the other day, and I'm pretty sure that one of the CV's up front took a flying crap. Noise isn't consistant, really only gets nasty above ~40mph or so, and seems to get worse when turning. It seems to vary between a grinding noise and a repetitive clinking/clunking noise. Pretty sure that's a CV.

Truck will be off to the dealership this morning to have that sorted out, get the trans/t-case/diffs serviced, a new wiper relay or motor (wipers only work on high, lol). Possibly new shocks, and maybe I'll have them throw Z71 springs on it while it's in there. Not sure yet.

I also found a new complete bumper assembly on Ebay this morning for $350-ish shipped (includes the upper cap, chrome piece and lower valance, and includes new fog lights) so I might jump on that as well and install it myself.

Finally, some long deferred stuff is being taken care of. About 236k miles on her now, engine and trans still going strong (knock on wood).
