I have a 2001 Yukon that I’ve owned for 10 years… it’s going to ****. Replaced ECBM, radiator, deferential, window regulators, and the AC, on and on… It’s got 135K and the 5.3 is a piston slapping DOG. Serious lack of power and always has. I did a cold air intake free flowing exhaust.. Hypertech power tune and it still SUCKS (fuel ONLY). Pulling my 21 foot boat is a chore at best. Turn the air conditioning on... (That I’ve also had to replace everything related to) and I’m floored going up the smallest of inclines…. Seriously, the AC must take 100HP to make it work.

ABS is jacked again, just replaced the radiator last week because the left side of the tank blew out. Driver’s seat is shot, rear blower doesn’t work…and the engine sounds like complete **** on a cold start and has for the last 50K no matter what oil or filter I use. Needless to say I’m done with this truck.
My question is….. are the newer ones better? LOVE the design and I am GM through and through. I’ve owned 5 and still have a 1970 Chevelle SS. I won’t even consider a Dodge or ford just because I do not like they way they look. I have looked at the Nissin Armada Platinum and the Acadia Denali with the 6.0 that seems to have far less issues motor wise.

I’m getting a new vehicle as a Christmas present to me… recommendations welcome. Let me have it!

EDIT, shocks, 3 steering stabilizers, ball joints, inter tie rod ends, 2 fuel pumps.. Rear defroster...on and on. I really hate this truck now.

check out a slightly newer one with the 6.0!

I'm a Ford convert. Always had Fords...this is actually my first GM product since my 1971 C-10 pickup I had 15yrs ago

The 6.0 motor sold me on converting. It just oozes power. Not a torque beast like my 6.8L V-10 is...but she sure can accelerate and the tire roasting at will is nice.

I'm hoping to avoid a laundry list of issues like you seem to have. Ouch

We have an Expedition that we have had zero problems or issues with over last 10 years. And my 04 Yukon has been problem free (other than folks rear-ending me, and sister playing bumper cars).

As suggested, go for one of the newer ones with the 6.0 for towing. If you like the newer body style, they have a 6spd transmission from 09 on (I believe that's when that switch was made). Hopefully the next one won't be as much of a money-pit as the last one

In November I bought a ex-PPV 4X4 155K. Ok it's a bit stripped but runs like a scalded dog and gets great gas mileage. Looks to have little done to it outside regular maint.

If it's a 4X4 it's not a PPV but a SSV
