In WAAAAY over my head. Trying to install new head unit

2005 Yukon Denali, with the Bose stereo system. Basically, the CD player in my factory head unit and the 6-disc changer both took a crap and I ordered a new head unit. I thought if I ordered the "kits" needed, it would be basically plug and play- it isn't. Now I have a $600 rats nest, with no idea what wire goes where or how to hook it up.

Here's what I ordered:

KENWOOD DNX692 DNX-692
Axxess AX-ADGM100 interface for GM
Metra Double DIN Dash trim kit for GM
Metra AXXESS ASWC-1 Steering Wheel Interface
Esky EC170-08 Rear View Backup Camera
Esky Wireless color video transmitter for backup camera
Sirius XM SXV300v1 connect vehicle tuner kit


Here's my immediate questions:

1) Do I have to go find power, reverse, parking brake, grounds, XM signal, and the steering wheel wires, making an individual splice into each one? I've already got the dash apart, and tracking each of these different wires will be anything but easy.

2) Does the backup camera get constant power, or only power when the reverse lights come on (then I have to find a reverse wire somewhere under the dash to tell the new head unit when to look backwards?

3) Anyone know a good installer around the Lubbock, Texas area that wouldn't mind spending a Sunday with me answering questions?

For the record, the Axxess instructions are absolutely worthless. Do I have a LAN 29, LAN 11, Class II or Class III system?

Please take this to someone and PAY them to install it. Most installers get paid for their time and knowledge. They don't mind helping a little, but you wouldn't do your job or show someone else how to do your job for free, would you?If you start cutting wires and hook it up wrong, you can damage all the new equipment you bought, and possibly burn down your vehicle.


1. No you shouldn't have to cut any wires. they should all be plug and play

2. Up to you. Some people like being able to see while driving, some don't. It depends on how YOU want the camera as to how to run wire to it. Constant power from the dash if you want it always on, or power from the reverse light if you only want it on when you reverse. That can also be tap'ed under the dash.

I'm putting it all back in the boxes and taking it to an installer Monday. I had to pull the dash to replace some sensors anyways. Those are done. I'll leave it apart for the guy to save him some time.

If you were in arlington I could help you with it... it's really not hard once you figure it all out.

But if you don't know what your doing, it is best to go ahead and pay someone.

I stayed away from axxess because of how complicated it all looked. I ordered a PAC harness that had all the steering wheel control, bose, and satellite radio retention and it the only wiring needed was connecting the harness that came with the radio to the PAC harness, and the wire for the steering wheel controls, the rest was all plug and play and I have no problems with my headunit.

Seeing as you already spent the money, you did what I would have done lol hopefully the installer will do good work for you.

Actually, the Axxess didn't have all the parts in the box, so he put a PAC in it anyways. The new radio is awesome. Should have done this years ago.

The awsc1 had lots of wires and looked very complicated but only required 3 wires, red for switched power, black for ground and a pink wire you tap into the factory pin a1 (top left) on the stereo connector.
