The 70 series does not flow that well. While you won't see big mpg gains with any muffler, you would have had the best chance with a MagnaFlow style muffler.

So what do you guys recommend for decent sound and performance? Nothing too loud though. I don't want to sound like some of the young guys around my area that sound like they cut the cats off and just dump it off.

I'm running the Magnaflow cat-back on my 6.0L Escalade, zero improvement in fuel economy. The stock system seems to flow pretty well on these trucks despite how heavy the muffler is.

I generally replace the exhaust system on every vehicle I buy, mostly for a little volume and small economy increase I usually see (usually about 1mpg). The Escalade is the first vehicle I've ever owned that saw zero mpg increase. The best so far has been my STS-V. The muffler replacement on that vehicle saw about 3.5 mpg increase, although I'm not too crazy about the sound.

If I were to do it over again I would have left the Escalade stock and spent my money elsewhere in the truck.
