unknown at this time.
Your work pal might have thought the latch assembly was adjustable which would justify his response. I had a vehicle like that once and in that case the striker was not adjustable.

...I have to install a new charcoal canister too...

OK, I read this and thought, we have charcoal canisters? Where? What do they do? Help with farts? Emissions? Then I thought, maybe it's a TBI thing, but no, I think you have a 99.

So, what's a charcoal filter? Where is it? and what does it do for our trucks? Thanks.

Yup, we have charcoal canisters, hah.
Its located on the drivers side behind the headlight next to the radiator. Its a black rectangular box with two small hoses and one larger hose along with a valve (though it doesnt look like a valve) mounted on the side.
It has something to do with emissions. It collects gasses from the tank and circulates it through the manifold or something. Not quite sure to be exact.
Its all a part of the emissions system.

I'm hoping that has cleared my issues with my CEL staying on. Also to pass inspections next week.

Hope that helps.

Yup, that helped. Sucks that it's for emmissions and not helping clear up any cabin farts, but meh.
I think that it's this black box in front of the second batt tray?

Thanks for clearing that up.
GL with your emissions test.

Thats it.
Unfortunately after having the code cleared it has reappeared :(
I am not pleased, especially sinse I have noticed my rear tranny seal is leaking again to.
If I didnt have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.
