My instrument cluster is acting up:
One day, the oil pressure gauge died and came back later.
Another day, the fuel gauge died, came back the next day.
A couple days later, the voltmeter pegged out while the oil pressure gauge died again.

I know for sure it's not "real", but is this a known problem, and is it anything I can do to fix it myself?

The stepper motors are a common problem on our trucks. My oil gauge did exactly what you describe.

You can replace the motors if you`re good with electronics but i`m not so i opted to get a rebuilt cluster from digital dash solutions on Ebay. http://stores.ebay.com/speedometersalesandservice/

You can either send him your original unit to be repaired or buy one and pay a $200 core charge until you return your original cluster.

He has many different custom setups. I went with the silverado SS white face gauges with red needles and he also puts a transmission temp gauge in and programs the cluster to make it work.

I forgot to add that changing the cluster is extremely easy. It takes about fifteen minutes to R&R.
