Is this a torque converter whine? I have intermittent loss of power and gears.. sometimes drives and shifts fine.. other times it will lose all gears simultaneously. When it does this, I can turn the truck off and back on, and it will shift fine. Very frustrating and I cannot seem to find a decent mechanic in my area. I am a small female and it’s starting to feel like I am being taken advantage of everywhere I take it..
This all came after running out of gas. Fuel pressure is good, trans temp is perfect, zero codes on the dash or picked up by my obd2.. one shop pulled a p0868 “transmission fluid sensor low voltage”
Because it’s intermittent, is there a chance that it could be a simple fix? Or does this typically mean an entire new trans or rebuild?

For starters, I would check your transmission fluid level. How old is the transmission fluid and the filter?

There's multiple possibilities, but I would start by checking the basics first. A low fluid level will cause what you are experiencing.
