Hello all! I just became the owner of a 2018 Yukon XL and am excited to be part of the forum! A quick question for everyone: Unfortunately the dealer only had one key and fob for the truck, any ideas on where to get a second key and fob (other than a dealership)? Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. Likely can get the fob at least on the internet and can program it with the help of you tube but the key from the dealer or locksmith. You just got a 2018, don't cheap anything.

Welcome to the Forum from NH.

I got my second key fob for my new to me 2007 Yukon XL Denali at a local locksmith. I think that it was $70, including programming it to my specific truck. I cannot tell the difference between the new one and the original one.

Good luck on your search.

I have noticed that ever since GM has made it very difficult to program FOB's and keys to cars at home, which I believe happened in 2011 or 2012, dealers are hesitant to provide two FOB's & Keys if the previous owner didn't give them one. When we bought our 2008, it only had one key and the dealer gladly got us another key cut and programmed to our vehicle. When shopping for our 2013, one vehicle only had 1 key and the dealer flat out said, they would have to spend a lot of money if they had to replace missing keys and FOB's for every vehicle that came in with only one.

But if the dealer wants to sell a used 2013 the second fob and key is cheap compared to having to sit on that rig because they will not do the right thing. Hell, get a second one and add that in to the cost of purchase.

I just bought a new one for 1/3 of he dealer price. I called local locksmith that programs them. It cost me $40.00 for programming new fob. McGuire Lock in Kansas City.

Am familiar with McGuire Lock in KC, Mo. since I lived north of the river for over 40 years. Where in KC are you?
