New guy here, never been on a forum before. But dying to know is upgrading my camshaft worth it.
I have a 2003 yukon denali with long tube headers and a full magnaflow exhaust. 160 tstat, cai, and a custom tune. This is my daily driver with just under 150k miles. I am looking to do a mild cam to increase power, acceleration and low end torque, but want to keep a very smooth idle. Is this possible? What kind of cam would you recommend?

I'm moving this to the performance section of the NBS (00-06) vehicles so someone can help better answer your question.

Most guys get close to 100whp from a cam swap with a good tune. Less if you go with a mild one. I got close to 100 with my .607/.614 219/227 112LSA cam. Thats a lot of lift but low duration so drives pretty normal. Just has a wicked idle and screams when you're on it. Pair it with a nice stall and your truck will move.

That's good to know. So if I got a 2000-2500 stall would that be good enough to match with a mild cam? I don't really do too much driving over 2500-2800 rpm. Sometimes the foot gets heavy when I see other trucks, but my norm stays in the 2500 range.

i did alot of research on this as well..on performancetrucks.net..and the best mild cam to get for the price is the trick flow 216 220 .560 114lsa cam its right under 300 at summit racing and honestly it gave a good seat of the pants feeling and the RPM range for this cam is 2k up to 6k which is almost the entire powerband and i still need to get mine tuned because its running very rich and youll get an increased overrev in your RPMs once its tuned..i paired it with some 7.4 hardened pushrods and pac1218 springs and everything came out perfectly..i have similar mods as you do also and similar miles

That's good info Josue. What do you mean when you say there's an increase in overrev? I was doing some other research and people were saying that I will need to upgrade the fuel system, oil pump, along with all of the upgraded rods, lifters, springs and torque converter. Even after all of this is done, I will only see minimal gains with the cam being as mild as it is...I'm starting to think twice about this now.
