supposedly when they brought out the dex, there was something in it that f-ed stuff up inside your engine. if your flushed it out since 2000 your supposedly fine.
Prestone Dex-Cool here as well. it got all new after the radiator split... (plastic crap)
Air in the system is the death of Dexcool. Many of the problems were linked to faulty radiator caps, leaky gaskets or the use of tap water (chlorinated) in the system instead of distilled water. It was reformulated in 2005 to eliminate those problems.
