Is it necessary to do free travel mod with 2/3-4 drop?

Yup. I mean you can get by without but I just like being upfront with customers by saying do it.

I was getting that quick bounce in the rear before....now it's smooth like when it was stock. I say it's a must imo.

Just wanted to put my 2 cents in case someone is considering this. I have the belltech 2/3 drop from Tony and have been driving on it for a few years now. I had the free travel mod done last week and it is a WORLD of difference. I can't believe i hadn't noticed how little clearance I had between the bumpstop and axle.
danm I have to do this

@Fosscore where did you get those huge bumpstops? I bought the small pancake ones that are only about 1/2" tall. Those look like mountains with the tops cut off!
Edit: I just looked again, and remember I installed the 1 1/2" tall ones from DJM. But good thing you cut down those mountains!

@Red Rocket
You are not wrong. Tony sent them to me. Energy Suspension has so many different styles.

That's why I had to cut them down about 1 inch. So much better the last few months. Surprising the difference in travel once I cut them down as well.

I use the shorter ones with my kits now. Just easier so not much to cut like older ones I sent

I am running the 2/4 kit from Tony aswell. I am going to do the free travel mod next week. The car rides great but I can tell a few more inches of travel will really dial it in nicely. For the guys asking about helper bags.... I think it is always good to have a helper bad if you are towing. The bag is going to stiffen up the ride so it is counter productive to the free travel mod if doing so for the smooth ride factor. I am going to tow an enclosed trailer with a 2800lb race car so i am doing the bags and free travel mod aside from my auto ride set up..... The bags are only going to help out the auto ride when towing. I will not use them on daily driving. That is what the free travel mod is for!!!
