Should be a Vortec engine.

It's a vortec well at least the air box and everything says vortec, I haven't really had a chance to get too far into it

It is not a 6.0 engine. #1taho it is a 5.7 engine.

Hopefully it's a 5.7 rather have an engine I know than one I dont

I didn't think there was one. But I know in 99 they did a lot of weard left over stuff with putting engines is everything.

I looked at the door sticker, it was built the first month of 98. I'm thinking the app I used to check the VIN is incorrect, it's Instavin, which is used to check vehicle history, through NMVTIS, not necessarily for features. I've checked the VIN through other VIN decodes and all have come back as 5.7. So I guess it's not so special.
