Is it supposed to be oily?

That yellow plastic vent cover is known to leak. Fluid would possibly leak down on drivers side axle.

Good news! They said it'd be ready today. And it was! So dropped off the loaner Mazda, threw the Mazda keys thru the door and go to start up.my truck. The lights flash and the truck won't start. I'm guessing they left a light on and killed the battery (the battery is 3 months old). Had to get a ride home. Now I have no truck and no Mazda

I'm late to this thread, but wanted to add my two cents... My 08 Denali began leaking at both sides around 90K. Axle seals were replaced under aftermarket warranty -- OEM parts. Less than 10K later, both sides were seeping again. Vents were clogged. Shop cleared vents and asked me to drive it for a couple of weeks, just to see if the seals really had become unseated or if the clogged vents were the only reason for the seepage. Did that, still seeped a few weeks later. This time the seals were replaced under GM warranty. Then, a few weeks later, I noticed seepage yet again, and as you can imagine I was extremely frustrated, so I took the vehicle back in. Technician wiped around the area with his finger and picked up some metal burrs. After sampling the fluid it was determined that the front diff was abnormally wearing, there was sediment in the fluid and the seals weren't properly sealing as a result. I never heard any unusual sounds from the differential, but I was told by the shop that it was eminent. It was also another explanation for those clogged vents. Front diff replaced with used diff (70k on it) under aftermarket warranty. Bone dry since at 124K.

BTW - That quote in my opinion was very reasonable. Mine were replaced under warranty and the bill was $275 per seal. Sorry to hear about the drained battery though!

We jump started it and tested it. The battery and alternator and both fine. We don't know why it wouldn't start. It just flashed the interior lights and made clicking noises.

Very strange. Wonder what caused it to drain. Happy with the axle seals?
I guess. I can't even tell that they did anything. But I have some more problems. My abs in coming on 10-5 mph. And my ball joints on the passenger side busted and are leaking oil
